GST Bifurcation Automation
An automation tool that downloads GST returns and ERP data, classifies transactions under correct GST heads, and generates accurate reports in minutes reducing processing time and eliminating manual errors.
Client Challenge:
IIT Bombay needed a faster, more efficient, and more accurate way to process GST data for their financial reporting. The existing process involved manually downloading GST returns from the government portal and extracting the Purchase/Sales Register from their ERP (SAP). After retrieval, the finance team had to painstakingly classify each transaction under multiple GST heads as per compliance requirements. This manual approach was:
Time-consuming – taking several hours or even days for large datasets
Error-prone manual classification often led to inconsistencies
Resource-heavy – consuming skilled manpower that could be better utilized in strategic financial analysis
Our Solution: We developed a custom-built automation tool tailored to IIT Bombay’s workflows. The tool:
Automatically logs in and downloads GST returns from the GST portal.
